Eagle

     ... valiant, lonesome, watchful

Bird of prey, soaring high.
Surfing the vast and sunburnt sky.
Gust of wind spiral upwards, giving lift to your feathers.
Sounds of the desert beneath you, offering opportunities, stretching forever.

Your silhouette can can represent either a symbol of strength.
A stealth jet flying without noise, neigh the rusting of the wind through your wings.
The sight of this sky vessel can instill either marvel or fear.
You are as the fighter jet, except that for you, it feels like an entire lifetime spent in the sky.

Your piercing eyes gaze down on the rock ground.
You see every detail, you span every horizon.
Bird of prey, soaring high.
Surfing the vast and sunburnt sky.

Eagle
.

About this Poem...

Animal: Koala
Description/motivation: This one is for David Hendon! One of my favorite people of all time, and told me his spirit animal was a "Hawk". Somehow I forgot and thought he said eagle. Either way I'm not convinced it matches him... he is the nicest and most energetic of people. For him he said he like that a hawk was "valiant", and that's an awesome word, but to me David is way more down to earth and loveable than any creature with talons. :)

This is one in a serious of poems I've written about various animals. The motivation, is that I love the idea of spirit animals, and I decided, one day, to ask many of my friend what animal they think best represents their personality. In some cases the poems are written with the person in mind... and sometimes it's purely about the animal. Read more about my process here. This is an original poem by me!
