Consumers Beware - Belle Real Estate - Elliott Brown
About
This is an account from someone dear to me of Belle Real Estate - Elliott Brown in Brisbane:
The house was a lie. The bathroom that was supposedly a $30,000 renovation was probably worth a third of that. Elliott lied about the lovely gay couple moving to Melbourne - it turns out it's a divorce house and it's little wonder they threw in the furniture - bad memories and they knew I was a sucker to pay that much for a lemon riddled with water issues from the walls, bathrooms, plumbing issues and the ground - because the whole house sits on a spring. In reality, one guy cheated on the other, then got a "live-in builder" (which I guess is a thing) to cover up all the flaws as cheaply as possible. Talking to the neighbours, it sounds like the guy is a low-key conman. Downstairs used to be a garage, apparently - it should never have been dressed up as a living space that I could rent out.
People in this industry lie to get ahead. When you see signs of water damage, and both the seller’s agent and buyer’s agent assure you it’s no big deal, listen to your gut. They’re both trying to close a deal. Even in an extreme seller’s market, it’s not worth it. Sadly, I don’t think Elliott is an honest person. I asked for receipts, renovation details - anything. But they claimed the place never had any issues with water. That's got to be a lie - as was the claim that the previous two offers of 1.5 were genuine and only fell down because of finance not met - if anything, they fell down because an honest home and pest of this place would say "don't touch this place".
If interested, I'll put you in touch with this person to hear more details of what to be careful of when buying a house... stuff that isn't in any books.
