What the heck is Claude? Claude is an AI chatbot by Anthropic, created by former researchers involved in OpenAI's GPT-2 and GPT-3 model development. Similar to ChatGPT, Claude uses a messaging interface where users can submit questions or requests and receive highly detailed and relevant responses. Initially available in closed beta through a Slack integration, Claude is now accessible via the website claude.ai. Claude is regularly trained on up-to-date information and can read up to 75,000 words at a time. This means it can read a short book and answer questions about it.
Here's more info from Claude itself, although is does seem pretty biased.

Here are some key pros of Claude AI compared to ChatGPT:
- Larger prompt size: Claude can accept prompt contexts over 4,000 tokens long to allow for more detailed and contextual conversations. ChatGPT is limited to prompts under 2,048 tokens.
- More truthful and honest: Claude aims to avoid false information or speculation by declining to answer rather than guessing. This makes it more trustworthy.
- Advanced common sense reasoning: Claude claims to have better common sense and logical reasoning abilities to have more natural and coherent conversations.
- Alignment with human values: Claude was built with Constitutional AI to align its values with ethical human norms. This helps ensure harmless, helpful responses.
- Ongoing learning: Claude can learn from new data and feedback during conversations to continuously improve its capabilities and knowledge.
- Designed to avoid harmful content: Claude censors potentially harmful, dangerous, or unethical content to prioritize safety.
- Contextual awareness: Claude aims to understand conversational context better to provide relevant, logical responses.
- Customizable capabilities: Claude will allow for different models to be developed with customizable capabilities for different use cases.
Overall, Claude's focus on truthfulness, safety and strong language understanding makes it very promising for having more advanced and ethically-aligned conversations compared to ChatGPT. However, ChatGPT still leads in raw capabilities and versatility currently.
Indeed, I was pretty impressed when I asked Claude to summarize my book "Little Book of Dance Inspiration" which is 108k characters / 16k words / ~1250 sentences / ~100 minute read time.
