Animal poems - Tiger
Tiger
... powerful, majestic, sleek
Down in the deepest jungle, you roam.
In the valleys, the rivers and between the trees, your sleek body slips in and out of shadows.
Finally the rains stop and you emerge into the sun. Only then, can we see how powerful and majestic you are.
You are the emperor of the monsoon, the ruler of the jungle. You stand above waterfalls.
In the blink of my heart your eyes can transform from fierce to calm.
Your entire being, exudes an image of vicious strength and mysterious beauty.
This piercing juxtaposition lives in your eyes, your heart, and every inch of your slender body.
It is written in your stripes.
I once feared you, but now I am purely captivated by your presence.
I both want to tame you, and see you roam wild and free through the land. I want both from you.
Others before me have tried to tame a tiger, but only the lucky few have formed a forever bond.
I wish to be connected to you, to learn how to embrace the wild nature of your spirit and bond with your heart.
You are my tiger. I am your human.

About this Poem... This is one in a serious of poems I've written about various animals. The motivation, is that I love the idea of spirit animals, and I decided, one day, to ask many of my friend what animal they think best represents their personality. In some cases the poems are written with the person in mind... and sometimes it's purely about the animal. Read more about my process here.
