     ... idle, carefree, prehistoric

Moss grows,
A sloth is slower.

Glacier's flow,
A sloth is slower.

The moon rises,
The sloth is slower.
The river dries,
The sloth moves.

He look into the trees,
The sloth is there.
He sends a smile,
The sloth doesn't care.

Prehistoric carefree creature,
Life is no rush for the zen teacher.
You can be my idle,
I just need to sit still.

My great is too fast,
As sloth is all knowing.

About this Poem...

Animal: Sloth
Description/motivation: Wrote this on a plane to New York for Jared and Alex.

This is one in a serious of poems I've written about various animals. The motivation, is that I love the idea of spirit animals, and I decided, one day, to ask many of my friend what animal they think best represents their personality. In some cases the poems are written with the person in mind... and sometimes it's purely about the animal. Read more about my process here.
