About

I moved to San Diego in August 2010 and I'm no restaurant critic - far from it - however I have decided to list out some of the good places I've eaten so that I can remember them! Back in Australia, when someone asked me what restaurants I'd recommend I kind of just go blank... I'd be lucky to think of more than three practical options, and even luckier if I could remember how to get there. :-)

I've created this page to help me remember which restaurants I like and a quick reference I can load onto my mobile phone for quick access to the phone number and address of restaurants. Eating out makes a nice change from cooking and there are a LOT of good restaurants around San Diego!

List of My Favourite Restaurants

Westfield Shopping Mall (Next to Macy's) 4353 La Jolla Village Dr. San Diego, CA. 92122-1203

Caribbean
****-

Description: Enjoyed the food and nice relaxed restaurant. Every Friday at (I think) 9 they have salsa dancing I believe, but haven't seen it yet!
Open: Sun-Mon 11-8:30, Tue-Thu 11-9:30, Fri-Sat 11-11.
Cost: Mains: ~$15 +

Regents Pizza

(858)550-0406

4150 Regents Park Row #170 La Jolla, CA 92037

Pizza
*****

Description: My housemate Will described them as the best pizza place in San Diego, the second being "California Pizza Kitchen (CPK)". It's a pretty small and basic looking place, but they do amazing "Chicago style" pizzas. Went with Vijay and ordered their biggest size (14") of Chicago style with half chicken and half a vegetarian and was blown away (was enough for three people). Be warned that the Chicago style pizza takes 45 mins to make!! CPK is also fantastic pizza - New York style only, but unique in that many of the pizzas are made with salad on top... very nice looking restaurant, always full of pizza.
Open: Mon-Thu 11-10, Fri 11-11, Sat 12-11, Sun 12-10.
Cost: Mains: $10-25 (depending on size)

Sushi on the Rocks

(858)459-3208

Cost: Mains: $18-25 + tip

DEL MAR

Il Fornaio

(858)755-8876

1555 Camino Del Mar Suite 301
Del Mar, CA 92014

Italian
*****

Description: One of first places I ate at - good view of Del Mar (if you get a window seat) and very romantic. The pizzas are delicious and the prices are pretty reasonable considering how nice the place is!
Open: All days
Cost: Mains: ~$20-30 + tip + tax

Double Happiness

(858)481-8584

1011 Camino Del Mar

Cost: Mains: ~$9-12 + tax
