About
On this page I have created a list of useful resources about the human eye - in particular the retina for my (old) research project in neuroscience.
Learning Resources for the Eye and Retina
- WebVision - a great online book called the "The Organization of the Retina and Vision Systems" produced by Helga Kolb from the University of Utah. The information here is quiet in depth, and also includes a great paper "How the Retina Works", with some very interesting facts about how eyes and vision differ between animals.
- Human Eye: 01: General Anatomy - A nice little video explaining the part of the eye, as taken from a biology book. It also includes three other parts:
- Human Eye: 02: Retina, which explains the layers of and nerve cells in the retina,
- Human Eye: 03: Rod Cell, explaining rod cells and rhodopsin, and
- Human Eye: 04: Biochemistry, explaining the pathway in rod cells which shuts down sodium channels.
